Ronda Lee Carlton, also known as “Rondy” went to dance on the streets of heaven on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at his home.
Born into the embrace of Wilkes County, he was the son of Rob and Estell Carlton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charlie, Earl, and Evon Carlton, and two sisters, Dessie Suddreth, and Joyce Howell, a son, Pervis Carlton, and two grandsons, Wesley Tugman and Dustin Horton.
As one of the oldest members of the Grace Kingdom Life Ministries, Rondy was a spiritual man who loved the Lord and enjoyed numerous church activities.
Rondy’s life was a tapestry of dedication to not only his family but also to the simple pleasures that bring us all together. He was an active hunter, preferably coon hunting, where he spent many nights. Often you could find him watching a baseball game. The same hands that could deftly toss a horseshoe also tended his garden/yard with care.
His departure is deeply felt by his children, Carey Caldwell, Dwenda Horton (Harold), LaRhonda Carlton and Breotta Corpening all of Lenoir, Ronnie Stokes (Pam) Rodney Carlton, Dean Carlton, and Brandon Carlton all of Wilkesboro. Crystal Davis (Byron) of Charlotte. He is also survived by one sister, Sadie Parsons, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Rondy found pleasure in his great grandchildren and love in His grandchildren, Crystal Stokes, Amber (Cody) Garretson, Carey Caldwell Jr, PJ Caldwell, Francesca Caldwell, Erin Carlton, Jerome Carlton, Rodney Carlton II, Steven Haley, Justin Davis (Jaimee), Dalvin Horton, Joshua Carlton, Madison Dunn, Jordale Carlton, JaVelle Collins, Jordan Davis, Feliceity Carlton, Kaitlyn Carlton, Tanli “ Tammi” Carlton, Xxaerion Montejo and Laprel Hackett, Ashyia Corpening, Zamyia Corpening, and Tynell Abdul. They will remember his resilience and carry a spark of Rondy’s spirit throughout their lineage.
The services to honor Rondy’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 20th at 2:00 PM at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with the receiving of family and friends from 12:30-1:30 PM. Rev. Stevie Carlton, Rev. Graylin Carlton and Pastor Kim Powell will be officiating. The eulogy will be rendered by Rev. Stevie Carlton. The burial will be at Scenic Memorial Gardens.
