Jerry Russel Lackey

Mr. Jerry Russell Lackey, age 80 of North Wilkesboro passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 at his home. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Scenic Memorial Gardens Chapel with Rev. Shannon Critcher officiating.  Burial will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service in Scenic Memorial Gardens Chapel. 

Jerry was born February 5, 1944, in Wilkes County to June Russell and Elsie Grubb Lackey.  He was a member of Millers Creek Baptist Church.  Mr. Lackey was a self-employed registered land surveyor and a member of the North Carolina Society of Surveyors for more than 50 years. Better known as “Popey” to family; he loved to be outside working and fishing with his buddies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Carroll Lackey and Gary Lackey.

He is survived by his wife; Janey Triplett Lackey of the home, a daughter; Jennifer Lackey Cardwell and husband Mike of Millers Creek and a granddaughter; Kacie Cardwell Roten and husband Cameron of Purlear.
