Glenda Kilby Obituary

Glenda Church Kilby, age 69, of Millers Creek, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Glenda was born July 16, 1955 in Siler City, NC to Glenn Albert and Violet McGlamery Church. She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Glenda dedicated many years of service to Lowes Companies, where she was known for her diligence and kindness towards her colleagues. A devoted member of West End Baptist Church in Wilkesboro, her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She actively participated in church activities and was a beacon of support and love within her community. She was a devoted Christian, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, known for her selfless nature and unwavering support of her family and friends. She consistently placed the needs of others before her own, contributing regularly to homeless shelters and serving as a foster grandparent in the Wilkes County school system.

 

Those left to cherish her memories are her spouse, Joe Kilby, Jr. of Millers Creek; son, Jamie Cockerham and spouse Angela “Squeaky” of North Wilkesboro, daughter, Kelda Senyohl and spouse Jody of Sammamish, Washington, son, Andrew Cockerham and spouse Megan of Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Finley Laitman, Peyton Cockerham, Benjamin Cockerham, Sky Senyohl, Emma Jurich, Nora Jurich, Zach Minton and Cody Minton; great grandchildren, Leilani Laitman, Weston Valbush and Hazel Valbush; and brother, Tony Church of Wilkesboro.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at West End Baptist Church in Wilkesboro with Pastor Matt Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Scenic Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 9, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659 or to Mtn. Valley Hospice, 968 North Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621 in memory of Glenda. Her legacy of kindness and charity will live on through the many lives she touched.
