Denny "Leon" Haymore

Mr. Denny “Leon” Haymore, age 92 of North Wilkesboro passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist-Wilkes Medical Center. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel.  The family will receive from 12:00 PM until 12:45 PM PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.         

Leon was born September 5, 1931, in Surry County to Hillary E. and Thelma Kirkman Haymore. He retired from Yadkin Valley Motor Company after 67 years of service. Leon was a member of the North Wilkesboro Lions Club since 1972. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean conflict.     

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son; Thomas Gregory Haymore, and a brother; Charles Edgar Haymore. 

He is survived by his son; Michael Leon Haymore and wife Deborah of North Wilkesboro, two grandchildren; Josh Welborn of North Wilkesboro, and Aaron Haymore of North Wilkesboro, two step grandchildren; Derrick and Michael Whisnant of North Wilkesboro; one great grandchild, Isaac Leon Welborn, two step grandchildren, Braxton and Parker Whisnant, and very special friend; Shirley Stone.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Wilkesboro Lions Club, 264 Pine Hill Drive, Millers Creek NC 28651.
